The Squirrel lives in many places in the world including Africa and Asia. They range in size from 5 inches long to 36 inches long. Most people that live in The urban erea's know that the squirrel lives in trees most of its life and they eat mostly nuts, seeds, and buds. They sometimes even eats insects. One thing I Didn't know. All squirrels store most of the food that they find for the winter months. Even if they do not have winter months were they live they still have the habbit of storing there food. In cold climates most tree squirrels do not hibernate, but most ground squirrels hibernate during the winter. In North America, one of the most common and widely ditributed species is the red squirrel, which ranges from northern and mountianous parts if the US to the limit of trees in Canada. East of the great plains live the eastern fox squirrel and the eastern gray squirrel. The familiar dweller in city parks is the native red squirrel A similar form in the western U.S. is the california gray squirrel. In the great plains region you will find the ground squirrel. There is also a neat kind of squirrel is the flying squirrel. It has a folded layer of loose skin along each side of the body from the front to the hind leg. When it's arms are spread it can glide from tree to tree as if it was a bird. Some of the information of the squirrel was found in the Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
